Fixing your mindset might be just as important as fixing your metabolism

I used to think the body was just a machine — fuel it right, get enough sleep, exercise, and you’re good. And I am sure many others think the same.

And when things go wrong- Must be the hormones. Or insulin. Or genetics.
“My hormones are out of whack.” “I just can’t lose weight.” “Pre-diabetes runs in my family.”

You may have heard yourself or someone else say this — and chances are, science will back up those claims. Irregular insulin levels do play a critical role in weight gain, metabolic slowdown, and pre-diabetic conditions. That’s what I was made to believe.

Until I came across Dr. Bruce Lipton’s “Biology of Belief”.
And it kind of rewired my understanding of… everything.

And I realized that what I had perceived from my randomly gathered so-called scientific knowledge about health issues was not the full picture. And this is what I learnt from “Biology of Belief”-

Science + Consciousness = Biology That Listens

If you’re new to Dr. Lipton’s work, here’s the short version: he’s a cellular biologist who started questioning the “genes control your destiny” narrative.

He discovered that cells don’t just obey genes — they respond to signals from their environment. And those signals? They come from the chemistry of our body, which is shaped by — yes — our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.

In case you want to dive deeper-
Here are some excellent videos by Dr. Bruce Lipton on The Biology of Belief, diving into epigenetics, consciousness, and how our thoughts shape our biology:

A comprehensive deep dive (~2.5 hrs) where Lipton explains how beliefs shape cell behavior, covering biology, epigenetics, and the power of the mind to reprogram our biology.

A more concise (~1 hr) version that focuses on how our consciousness and thoughts act as signals to our genes, and practical ways to shift belief systems.

Rethinking the Root: Could Our Mind Be Fueling Our Metabolism?

When we say ““My hormones are out of whack.” “I just can’t lose weight.” “Pre-diabetes runs in my family.”

Is it completely true that our insulin resistance is the culprint?

Chances are, science will back up those claims. Modern medicine rightly teaches us that insulin is a hormone responsible for managing blood sugar. When it’s not released properly — or when cells stop responding to it — we enter what’s known as insulin resistance. This leads to increased fat storage, inflammation, fatigue, and eventually, diabetes.

Irregular insulin levels do play a critical role in weight gain, metabolic slowdown, and pre-diabetic conditions.

But what if I told you that this is not the full picture?

Our thoughts, emotions, and chronic stress patterns can also influence how our body releases insulin — and how our cells respond to it.

Thoughts Are Biochemical Commands

Thoughts like “I’m overwhelmed” or “This isn’t working” aren’t just mental noise. Our brain interprets them as real threats and floods our body with stress hormones.

Stress Chemistry Is Blood Sugar Chemistry

Let’s look at stress.

When we are under stress (even the subtle, chronic kind like feeling behind on deadlines, not-good-enough, or stuck in survival mode), our body enters fight-or-flight mode. Cortisol and adrenaline flood our system.

Now here’s the link between cortisol release and blood sugar:

  • Cortisol raises blood sugar so you have energy to “run from the tiger.”
  • In response, insulin spikes to bring that sugar down.
  • But if this pattern repeats daily (hello, modern life), cells start to ignore insulin’s signal.

That’s insulin resistance. Born not just from sugar — but from sustained stress.

But shift your thoughts to “I trust the process” or “There’s enough time” — and your cells get the opposite signal: safety, balance, healing.

So here’s the connection I made:

My biology was responding to my thoughts and to my vibration.

I was eating well, but thinking stress.
Moving my body, but carrying self-doubt.
Fixing my diet, but not my internal dialogue.

So, where were these vibrations of stress, fear and self-doubt coming from, and what could I do about it?
“Biology of Belief” helped me understand some of it, and then after digging deeper and consuming other related information, I got some clarity on the origination of stress and fear related vibrations and their impact on our health; and I am sharing the same here.

Understanding Mind, Body and Consciousness

As explained by scientists and philosopher, every entity (animate or inanimate) of the physical world is made of some form of energy that has a specific frequency and has its own field.

Simply put…every structure = particle (matter) + field

“Field is the sole governing agency of each particle” — Elbert Einstein

So, what is field?

In human body, our mind is our field

Mind

  • The mind is not the brain — it is a field of consciousness that directs the body by communicating with genes/ genomes.
  • Dr. Lipton distinguishes between the conscious mind (creative, aware, present) and the subconscious mind (habitual, automatic, shaped by early programming).
  • The conscious mind can reprogram the subconscious, but only through consistent awareness and repetition.

Body

Body is the particle — matter made of trillions of cells. Our body is an electromagnetic field made of electric charge of the brain and magnetic charge of the heart.

Brain is part of the body that works like a computer- it releases electric charge, processes all the information that is received by our body through its sensory organs and has finite capacity. Brain protein is always changing form and shape based on what information is getting added to it.

Heart has a magnetic charge. It works like an interpreter of our mind’s vibrations and corresponding feelings.

Cells: The Building Blocks of the Body

  • The human body has 50 trillion cells, each acting like a tiny intelligent being.
  • Each cell has a membrane (skin) that acts like the brain of the cell — receiving signals from the environment and deciding how to respond.
  • Inside, proteins form the structure and machinery of the cell, and are made of amino acids, like Legos that fold into specific shapes based on the signals they receive

Proteins and Amino Acids: Life’s Molecular Machinery

  • Amino acids are the basic units (building blocks) that string together to form proteins.
  • Proteins fold into precise shapes depending on electrical signals and chemical environment.
  • These protein structures determine the function of the cell, like turning genes on/off, transporting substances, or generating energy.

Brain vs. Heart vs. Mind: How They Work Together

  • The brain is like a computer processor: it takes signals and interprets them, but it doesn’t initiate meaning.
  • The heart is more than a pump — it’s an intelligent organ with its own nervous system and memory. It communicates with the brain and affects perception and emotion.
  • The heart and brain synchronize when we feel positive emotions, creating coherence — a state of harmony that enhances healing and well-being.
  • The mind (or consciousness) interprets the environment and sends signals to the brain, which then communicates with the body via hormones and the nervous system.

Our mind is connected to the limitless energy field (also called the quantum field and our environment). Our mind, heart, brain and body work together to create our perceptions and affect the frequency of our body’s cumulative vibration as well as of each cell.

Our Vibration Sends a Signal to Our Cells

Dr. Bruce Lipton and other cellular biologists have shown that our beliefs are not just mental — they’re biological signals. Every thought we think releases a chemical message. Loving thoughts? Healing hormones. Fearful thoughts? Stress hormones.

This means:

  • Our nervous system interprets our perception of the world.
  • That signal travels to our cells, which adjust gene expression, metabolism, and immunity based on that input.
  • In other words, how you feel about life can literally change how your body functions..

This means
Thoughts = Signals = Cellular Instructions

  • Here’s the key: Our thoughts are energy.
  • Every thought produces a biochemical response — either stress hormones (like cortisol) or healing hormones (like dopamine, oxytocin).
  • These chemicals influence the cellular environment, causing proteins to fold differently and genes to activate or suppress.

Our thoughts are created in the conscious mind, and mind is the governing body that determines our approach and our actions.

Each one of us differs from the other in our approach of channeling this thought energy.

Epigenetics: You Are Not a Victim of Your Genes

  • Contrary to old science, genes are not fixed or deterministic.
  • Epigenetics shows that genes respond to signals from the environment — including internal environments shaped by your beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and perceptions.

Positive, loving thoughts can activate genes that promote health. Fear-based thoughts activate stress pathways and inflammation.

This is how Dr Deepak Chopra explains that our body is a three-dimensional projection of our thoughts.

“Thoughts are impulses of intelligence that arise from the ocean of consciousness, and then in fact manifest themselves on the material level as these chemicals. Let’s say If you have the experience of fear in a dark alley, that experience of fear takes physical shape in the form of adrenaline, spurting not only from your adrenal gland but from every cell in your body. If you have the experience of exhilaration then that exhilaration takes physical form as interleukin, interferons, which are very powerful anti-cancer drugs. You make tons of them when you feel exhilarated. If you feel tranquil, then that tranquility takes physical form as the generation of a Valium like substance in your body.

So all impulses of intelligence are fluctuations in Consciousness which express themselves as thought, feelings, desire, emotions; in fact as a structure in the body as three-dimensional projection”

Heartfelt Emotion Accelerates Change

  • Emotion is energy in motion — it amplifies thought.
  • When a belief is combined with heartfelt emotion (like gratitude, love, or peace), it sends a powerful signal that rewires our biology faster.
  • That’s why feeling is the secret in mind-body healing practices.

To summarize — — Our beliefs control Our biology.

  • And to change our beliefs we need to understand that our conscious mind just imagines change. It is our subconscious mind that runs the show.
  • Which means reprogramming our subconscious is essential if we want our biology to align with our conscious desires.

Reprogramming involves recalibrating the frequency of our cells by sending right signals to them- through healthy food, proper rest and exercise-all accompanied with right thoughts.

So How Do We Shift or Reprogramme?

A Two-Way Approach: Science + Consciousness

1. Manage your insulin with healthy food —

Over the years many diet protocols have been developed and promoted to keep our bodies in good health. I feel guided to share one particular one that I have followed, on and off and have felt its benefit. It is called Budwig’s Protocol. Here is its scientific explanation that I found on the internet.
Johanna Budwig believed that combining cottage cheese and flaxseed oil (which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids) permitted better availability of essential fatty acids through the plasma membrane, allowing for improved aerobic cellular respiration.

The theory behind the Budwig Diet

The theory behind the Budwig diet is that increasing the amount of oxygen that reaches the body’s cells helps to keep them healthy.

Omega-3 supports your red blood cells, which are what carry oxygen around the body. So the Budwig diet is designed to boost your omega-3 intake and its absorption, since there is research to suggest that disease cells do not grow or spread as quickly in well oxygenated environments.

Oxygen is carried to the cells of the body by hemoglobin, which is in the red blood cells in your blood. Omega-3 is needed to keep hemoglobin in a healthy way, but it must be in a water-soluble state to be absorbed. This can be achieved with the help of a protein that contains sulphuric acid, which can be found in cottage cheese and quark.

This is why the staple of the Budwig diet is a blend of cottage cheese or quark with omega-3-rich flaxseed oil.

The Budwig blend

The Budwig blend is a 2:1 ratio of low-fat organic cottage cheese or quark to flaxseed (linseed) oil.

For example, you could blend 6 tablespoons of cottage cheese or quark with 3 tablespoons of flaxseed oil and enough water to give it a soft, custard-like consistency.

An alternative to the blend is the Budwig ‘muesli’. Mix 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseeds (linseeds) with 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese or quark. You could add some agave syrup or honey with chopped fresh fruit and nuts.

2. Yes, balance your hormones with professional guidance.

But also…

  • Ask: What vibration am I living in every day?
  • Observe: Are my dominant thoughts fearful, angry, rushed?
  • Practice: Breathing, presence, gratitude, joy — these are not soft skills. They’re frequency medicine.

Because if your mind keeps telling your body it’s unsafe, your body won’t drop weight. It won’t release inflammation. It won’t heal.

But if you tune your inner frequency, your biology will recalibrate

3. Reprogramming the Subconscious Mind

  • Since 95% of our behavior is run by the subconscious mind, healing and transformation require rewriting subconscious beliefs.
  • Tools for this include:
  • Repetition & Affirmations
  • Meditation & Heart-Brain Coherence
  • Visualization
  • Energy Psychology (like PSYCH-K, which Dr. Lipton endorses)
  • The goal: align subconscious patterns with your conscious desires so your entire system vibrates with health and purpose.

Here’s what helped me :

Speak to your body with kindness

“Thank you for keeping me alive.”
“I trust you.”

Heart-brain coherence breathing

Focus on your heart. Breathe slowly. Feel gratitude. It’s that simple.

Catch the thought loop

Replace it with a better one — even if it feels weird. Repetition builds new pathways.

Visualize and feel the emotion

Don’t just imagine — embody.

Laugh. Dance. Rest. Repeat.

Joy is high frequency medicine.

A New Kind of Health Plan
